Dirty Thursday

I’ve been buried with life and  slow to take out my camera over the past few weeks. A morning ride at Rocky Knob helped me come to my senses. Two years ago, Boone had no legal mountain biking terrain. Thanks to a few persistent visionaries, our community now has one of the most innovative trail networks in North Carolina. The first photo is a self portrait (oh, the vanity!) when I had the whole park to myself. I came back after work to help with ‘Dirty Thursdays,’ the weekly volunteer effort to help complete the remaining trails.  As you’ll see below, it’s not all work and no play. You don’t have to be an advanced rider to have a blast out here. The wooden ramps just make for better pictures. By the time everything is complete, Rocky Knob will boast a new adventure playground for kids as well as a family biking loop for beginners.
